Here is what the little synopsis that's been posted for this movie says:
"A book editor is forced to marry her male assistant in order to stay in the country. When they travel to Alaska to meet his family, the new couple has to fake their way through a surprise wedding thrown by his parents."
Well, Lisa and I were blessed enough this evening to find ourselves with free passes to a pre-showing of this movie. I assume that means it opens tomorrow. Honestly, this is normally one of those movies that would have flown under my radar for months after it was out at
Redbox - until that one fateful evening where my number 1 movie choice wasn't available, and my number 2 movie choice wasn't available....and so I just happened to click on this fella due to the fact that I really liked
Ryan Reynolds in
Definitely, Maybe and that I really like
Sandra Bullock in almost everything. But instead, I saw it on the big, big screen. And I loved it! I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in quite a while. I mean - let's be honest with ourselves - when we see Ryan Reynolds in a movie.....we know what character he's going to play. And the same is true with Sandra Bullock. I think the genius of this film was putting those two characters together and letting Sandra be fuel for Ryan. That, combined with
Oscar (from The Office) playing a role....ummmm.....I mean....playing
roles (I won't spoil this for you!) like you'd never expect from him. So - to sum up why I came home and cracked open the laptop to update a blog I haven't posted on in quite some time: If you're looking to watch a film this weekend....take a chance on this one. I don't think you'll be disappointed. And make sure you watch the credits - don't jump the gun and leave too early!
